At the beginning of 2024 Carpet Recycling UK instigated the latest Place on the Market Survey (2023) and the Landfill Diversion Survey for Recyclers and Waste Management Companies (2022-2023) centring on the amount of waste generated directly or indirectly by the carpet and textile flooring industry in the UK.
Place on the Market
We have again requested a breakdown of information relating to the quantity of material placed on the market from manufacturers and distributors. This type of data allows us to verify the total amount of carpet and textile flooring waste generated in the UK by material and product types throughout 2023. The data received will be analysed and reported by category and for the first time this will include a sub-divide for rugs.
Landfill Diversion
The survey primarily reaches out to re-use, recycling, treatment and waste companies to ascertain the volume of their combined segregated and processed textile flooring waste and it covers the period from 2022 till the end of 2023. In 2021 the survey revealed that 98.7% of waste generated was diverted away from landfills and we are hopeful that the latest survey results will continue to provide an improvement on all landfill diversion figures.
The survey results are treated in strict confidence and the results obtained will be collated and analysed and the findings shared shortly.
Thanks to all participants, members and non-members who have taken the time to respond so far. If you have received a survey, please complete and return it as the information will be of benefit to the sector. If you require further details, please email us: julie@carpetrecyclinguk.com
